Version 7.1N is the latest version of the Version 7 SMI software series.

To verify your current version:

On a HP 48GX, press [SHIFT-LT] - V.
On a Pocket PC, the version is displayed across the title bar.
On an Allegro, select Help --> About Classic SMI.
On a Titan, press [CTL] - [DEL] or RED - VER

Abbreviated Instructions for Installing

ALLEGRO USERS: Read this if you are updating your software from a version prior to 7.1M.
Older versions installed into the "C_Drive\EMU48CE" folder. Version 7.1M and later install to the "C_Drive\SMI Allegro" folder. When the previous version is automatically uninstalled, several files are left in the old folder. If you want to copy the jobs from the previous installation, cut the file PORT2.BIN from the "C_Drive\EMU48CE" folder and paste it into the "C_Drive\SMI Allegro" folder. After copying any other needed files or folders such as the Geoid folder, the "C_Drive\EMU48CE"folder can be deleted.

Download the "7.1N_SMI_For_[device]_1of2.EXE" and "7.1N_SMI_For_[device]_2of2.EXE" files below.
Close the SMI programs on the device.
Establish an ActiveSync Connection with the device and the PC. USB is faster than serial connections. ActiveSync is on the Pocket SMI CD or is available for free from Microsoft at http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/resources/downloads/pocketpc/activesync37.mspx. If you need help with installing or using ActiveSync, refer to Chapter 1 in the SMI user guide appropriate for your device.
Run "7.1N_SMI_For_[device]_1of2.EXE." Tell it to install to the default directory and if prompted for the location of where to install it to, select "C_DRIVE".
When the files have copied over, check the device to say that it is OK to replace the old version.
